Skincare can be so tricky! Especially if you don’t know your skin type. For me it’s easy (lol) and that’s because my skin has completely changed since I had my two boys. I used to have super normal skin, not dry, not oily, not combo, but simply normal- I miss that skin! See now, I guess age, hormone changes, mommyhood stress and just life in general my skin has become very dry, textured and breakout/blemish prone. BUT! I have finally found a routine that has helped me tremendously to gain some of that beautiful twenty-something skin I used to have (somewhat).
Anyway, I have tried so many different products trying to get my skin back to comfortable, normal feel/look, but nothing worked until I found these products I’m about to mention here. Take notes if you have dry skin! This will definitely change your life (I hope!)
Starting with this Origins gentle exfoliator. This product is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! It works as a cleansing and exfoliating duo for a smoother, healthier-looking complexion and it is supposed to help with dryness, dullness and uneven texture. (DISCLAIMER, I DON’T USE THIS EVERY NIGHT, I USE THIS 2 SOMETIMES 3 TIMES PER WEEK -KEEP READING FOR THE ONE I USE WHEN I DON’T USE THIS EXFOLIATOR). Anyway, back to the review, this bad boy is so amazing, it is so gentle, smells really nice, and leaves my skin feeling soft and totally glowing. I love the fact that it’s so gentle for an exfoliant; you know how exfoliators are rough and literally hurt on the face, this one doesn’t fee like that at all! I recommend this if you want something gentle that actually cleanses and exfoliates the skin all in one. This one is a keeper!
Second, I don’t always do masks, but when I do, I always aim for a hydrating mask. This mask I got in my monthly Boxycharm, I got three masks, but of course I used the hydrating one first because, well, I always look for hydration. The name of the brand is Biobelle Cosmetics. I absolutely loved this mask, it is indeed very hydrating and I think I will incorporate this more often to my routine. Now, before I tried this, I had been using the Peter Thomas Roth Gel mask, this mask is amazing, soothing, and very hydrating and to be quite honest, I think this mask is perfect for any skin type. I generally do masks, 1-2 times per week sometimes 3x, depending how my skin is feeling! Oh and how could I forget, I also love the Fresh Beauty Rose Face Mask, if you’ve never tried it, YOU MUST!
Third step, I hope you’re still here, it seems like a lot of, but trust me this is a very easy, simple to follow routine! ok, back to review, I started using this Fresh Beauty toner about 2 months ago. I will never go back to a different toner, this is so gentle, and yes, hydrating. I had a hard time finding a toner that didn’t feel drying after applying, and finally, I found it! It is a little expensive, but so worth every penny! I use it twice a day (AM/PM). A keeper, worth the investment!
Fourth step, ok, can I just start by saying, I’ve never used sprays on my face, other than makeup setting sprays. The moment I tried this Mario Badescu facial spray, I was shocked at the fresh feeling this leaves on my skin! I use this after my toner, and before I use any moisturizer, but I spritz a little bit after I apply moisturizer also. I literally bathe my face in this lol, I mean how can you not!? It is geared toward all skin types, so if you haven’t tried, GO GET IT NOW! You won’t regret it! Oh and you can also use this to set your makeup, personally I haven’t used it for that, but the product is meant to do that also!
Fifth Step, stay with me here, we’re almost done! Ok, so I know I should probably be using an anti-aging moisturizer, BUT this Origins overnight mask right here is my life saver! I bought this at Sephora one day out curiosity to see how it would work and o.m.g. I fell in love with it instantly, it is hydrating, it smells great, when you wake up in the morning your skin feels soft, radiant, healthy! If your skin is feeling like it needs a little hydration, this is the guy for you! I am so thankful I found this, it literally helped reduced so much texture from my skin, I am a complete slave to this mask lol, never ever changing it!
Ok, final step, first let me say, I just recently started using this eye cream, before this I was using the Tarte eye cream, I liked the cream, but it wasn’t doing anything for me as far as dark circles. So I recently switched to this one and so far I’m liking it, it is gentle and very hydrating (gosh how many times have I said that word on this post lol). I will have an update on this in a few weeks to see how it’s performing; but according to the claims on this product, it is supposed to “visibly help delete darkness, diffuse puffiness and strengthen fragile eye skin to prevent future discolorations from circling back. Eyes instantly look brighter, more radiant and rested.” I do notice my under eyes look brighter when I apply this, I don’t have much puffiness, unless I eat salty foods, so not sure how it performs there yet. Again, I will have an update on this.
So this is my current night time skincare routine, I am absolutely loving it. Oh almost forgot, LIPS! I exfoliate my lips almost every night and use either baby Aquaphor or Bite Beauty Agave lip balm! Also, I know that skincare is not all about products, it is also about diet and DRINKING WATER, LOTS OF IT! I can personally tell you when I eat crappy foods my skin hates me (like it’s hating me this week lol). I wanted to also say, when I don’t use the exfoliator/cleanser, I use the Origins Frothy Face wash, this cleanser is so amazing, totally recommend! It was recommended to me by a fellow Instagrammer (@carolinasmakeup_). And finally, I do use my Vanity Planet’s facial brush, I mostly use the head for “sensitive” skin because it’s super soft and easy on the skin. I use this almost every night-especially on days where I breakout, that’s the perfect time to use it so you can unclog your pores!
This is my freshly washed face!
I hope you find this helpful! Please share any tips you have on your skincare routines! I would to hear!
