Hi everyone!!! I hope you all had a great weekend! My weekend was very nice! I went to one of my best friend’s baby shower! Can’t believe she’s having a baby, I’m so excited and happy for her! So cold season is fast approaching and our skin and lips are here to remind us! I want to share with you a little DIY recipe I use when I run out of my store bought lip scrub. It is super easy and most likely, you already have all the ingredients in your pantry!
Let’s jump right in.
I love this weather, well I love fall weather lol, but one thing I don’t love about the colder months is that my skin, my lips and everything just feels dryer and in desperate need of serious TLC. My lips, just like my face, feel so dry ALREADY and the way I alleviate that is by exfoliating them!
Guys, I love how easy it is to just go to the store and buy a product, BUT I also REALLY love a good DIY! One of the things I love doing at home are lip scrubs; they are easy to make and literally takes very little time to get it done. I don’t want to keep rambling, so let’s get into the recipe!
You literally need three ingredients for this: honey, coconut oil and sugar- that is it! I’m pretty sure most people have these things in their pantries. I use the triple filtered organic coconut oil from Trader Joe’s. I love this oil because when I use it for cooking it doesn’t smell as strong as regular coconut oil.
First you’ll want your coconut oil to be hardened, if it isn’t it will be an oily mess! If your oil is not hard, put it in the fridge for a few minutes, that will do the trick.
Grab a small bowl or tea cup and mix the coconut oil and your honey, sometimes the mixture might be really thick, but put it in the microwave for about 5 seconds loosen it up a bit.
Next, I add the sugar to the coconut oil and honey. I like using brown sugar because I feel it has more exfoliating properties than regular sugar, but you can use whichever you have handy! Once you add the sugar the consistency is going to change, so add some luke warm water until you get the consistency you desire. I like mine in between, not too runny not too thick. Voila! You have just made your own lip scrub and saved some money in the process! This little mixture will last about two weeks in the refrigerator and you can use it as often as you’d like or need. This lip scrub is also part of my skincare routine.
Lip Scrub Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 Tablespoon honey
- 2 Tablespoons brown sugar (brown-optional)
- 1/2 Tablespoon luke warm water
Ok my loves, this is my little go to lip scrub when I run out of store bought or simple don’t feel like spending my money lol! I hope you like and find this post helpful.
