Hi everyone!! So I hope that you know by now how much I love skincare! and if you don’t, I’ll remind you, I LOVE SKINCARE lol. I love a good super hydrating mask! Now, we all know ain’t nobody got time to mask everyday lol, but I definitely try to do it at least three times a week. I wanted to do a post comparing some of the masks I’ve tried recently. Will they make the cut? Am I obsessed with them? I don’t know, keep reading and find out 😉
Ok let’s get to it!
Starting with the mask I tried most recently, the Shray Skincare Aurora Hydrating/brightening Mask . Not going to lie, I was a little nervous to try it at first, not exactly sure why, but I guess like a lot of people, I get nervous using a new skincare product, mainly because you know, you can have like a bad reactions or something lol. Anyway, I put my apprehentions aside and I gave it a go! Let’s start with the application, the mask has three layers, two of which you have to remove, and obviously one you must keep on your face. I was a bit confused with the application at first lol, I was literally having like HUH? moment 🤷🏻♀️. Anyhow, finally figured it out, applied, waited 20 minutes as instructed. The mask “is designed to hydrate your skin with all natural ingredients, including the mask itself and the ingredients. The effect can last long time without any greasy feeling or pore-clogging result.” Let me tell you, I have never used a sheet mask that leaves your face instantly hydrated AND radiant without the eeky wet face feeling that you have to massage the residue into your skin. All in all, this mask is great if you’re looking for an instant brightening, hydrating effect. The con, for me, the application, I wish it was just either one layer (the one you apply) or two, one that you remove, one that you keep on your face. Price, it costs $10 for one sheet or $35 for four sheets. It is on the pricey side, but hey, it does what it’s supposed to, so I don’t mind it as long as it does its job. I do recommend it though! Your skin will thank you!
Continuing with the sheet masks, let’s talk about the Garnier’s sheet mask. I did not know that Garnier made sheet masks 😳!! Anyway, I found these while at the drugstore buying diapers haha…I always drift to the makeup/skincare aisles 🤷🏻♀️. I saw three versions of these at the drugstore, all hydrating, but one was mattifying, so naturally because I have dry skin, I purchased the blue hydrating moisture bomb mask– this one promises deep moisture for instantly softer, more radiant skin. I also purchased the soothing moisture bomb mask– this one promises deep hydration, comfort and soothes skin. So let’s break it down, the hydrating blue mask, first pro for me, it is super easy to apply and it fits the face like a glove. While it is very hydrating, I did not feel it left my skin looking radiant like the Shray mask. I noticed my skin was very soft, but it didn’t look bright. I did like it though for the hydrating effect that it promises and delivers.
Now the pink soothing mask, I don’t think I would recommend this if you have oily skin, the hydration is so deep that you might not like the feeling on your skin (if you’re oily). If you have dry or even combination skin, this is great. If you have spent a lot time at the beach and your skin needs a little TLC, this mask is perfect for that. I noticed a very soothing feeling on my skin after I applied it and to be honest, I notice my skin looked more radiant with this one than the blue one. Price, very affordable, I bought for $3.49 each at the drugstore. I love that they are affordable and so accessible- a trip to your nearest drugstore and boom! you got yourself an awesome mask! The con for me on these, they do leave you with that wet eeky feeling when you take them off, so you have massage the residue into your skin, other than that I was pretty happy with them. PLEASE NOTE WHEN I REFER TO PINK/BLUE I’M REFERRING TO THE PACKAGING.
Now on to different masks! Let’s start with the GlamGlow Flashmud Brightening Treatment Mask. Let me just say, I really like this mask, but after trying the sheet masks I talked about here, I think they give this one a run for her money in the hydration department lol, just putting it out there 🤷🏻♀️. This mask is “a multi-targeted, multi-sensorial quick results brightening treatment for radiant, youthful-looking skin.” This is not a peel mask, it applies on like a cream that has somewhat of a gritty texture, but when you wash it off it feels like you’re washing off facial soap. Here’s the thing, I like the mask, it does leave your skin looking bright and beautiful, BUT for someone like me, with dry skin, it is a bit drying after washing off. I don’t like feeling dry after I take/wash off a mask lol, the whole point of me masking is mainly for hydration. Anyway, that’s one of my cons for this one. Pro, like I said, it does leave your skin looking radiant and soft and it is geared to all skin types. Price, well I think everyone knows that GlamGlow is very expensive, but this one has two sizes, one being the one pictured here which cost me $22. The bigger sized one costs $69-that’s my other con lol, price.
Next up, Nip+Fab Kale Fix Clay Mask . This mask is “A super-charged nourishing clay face mask enriched with minerals and witch hazel, works to draw away impurities without drying the skin. The addition of an advanced moisture complex helps to restore the skin’s natural barrier function & regulate water loss to increase hydration for the skin to leave it feeling touchably soft with a fresh glow.” I LOVE THIS MASK guys! I reach for this one at least twice a week! The consistency of this one reminds me of the GlamGlow I talked about here. It applies like cream, but it doesn’t have a gritty texture and even though it’s a clay mask, it does not dry hard. I love that it doesn’t leave the skin feeling dry after I washing it off. It also leaves my skin looking bright and soft. If you have a problem with dry, flaky patches, this mask would really benefit you. Price, I think it is actually affordable, $9.95 for this tube. I really have nothing negative or complaints about this mask. Highly recommend it.
Last but not least, I had to include here a gel mask! I had never tried a gel mask before, until I got the Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask. I was lucky to find the entire set at TJMaxx for less than the actual cost of JUST the mask at Sephora 😬. This mask promises “an ultra-gentle refreshing gel mask to help soothe, hydrate, and detoxify the look of dry, irritated skin with botanical extracts.” Ok, so pros, the mask does feel soothing and refreshing, especially if you put it in the refrigerator! It is very moisturizing and doesn’t leave that dry feeling after washing off. Cons, my this is hard to wash off, gel it is not easy to take off of your face lol, at least not for me, I get water everywhere washing this off, and price, my my this is expensive!! $52 dollars for this exact jar! That is expensive my friends. I am glad I found it at TJMaxx lol. If you have dry skin this would be great for you, but it is also geared toward all skin types. Do I recommend? Well if you don’t care about spending $52 dollars on a mask, then yes, if you do care then I would say try one of the ones mentioned above, they pretty much do the same thing, and dare I say, better than this. Don’t get me wrong, It is a great mask, but simply because of that price I would think it twice about buying it lol, that’s just me though!
Alright guys, that is for the mask off! I hope you found this post useful and enjoyable!
