Hi everyone!!! So we’re coming to a conclusion on my three part “Essentials” series. I hope you have enjoyed so far! I wanted to end the series with skincare!! As you can already tell I am the biggest fan of skincare. When I was in my 20s, I did not take care of my skin at all to be honest, now I don’t go a day/night without doing my daily routines. This is not only important for your skin, but to be quite honest it is probably the most relaxing thing you can do after a long day. By the way, you can check out my updated skincare routine here. With this being said, let’s jump right in!
The first essential item in skincare, is cleanser! WASH your face! Not with your body soap, but with a facial cleanser that’s is suitable to your skin type. I use the Origins Checks and Balances, this cleanser is perfect for dry, oily and normal skin types. So if you’re looking for one, I totally recommend this one! Remember cleansing is very important for healthy skin!
Following your cleansing with an exfoliator helps with getting rid of dead skin and bring out the natural glow of your skin. I like using a super gentle exfoliator because I have dry skin, and not only that, I just don’t like using exfoliators that are too abrasive! If you’re looking for a super gentle one, this is the one I use as part to my routine here.
Toners are very important to use! If you have oily skin it is so important to have a toner in your routine, but don’t think because you don’t have oily skin that you don’t need it! A toner will help you with oil control, it helps shrink pores, adds a layer of protection to your skin and many other benefits! And if you have dry skin, using a hydrating toner will help bring more moisture to your skin. I love using the Fresh hydrating toner. (Sorry no picture as I ran out! 😩)
4. Serum A serum is your botox without the needles if you will lol. Serums are such a powerful help when it comes to fighting wrinkles!! Serums are made to deeply penetrate your skin. If you have sensitive, breakout prone skin, my friend-get a serum, your skin will thank you! My skin is so smooth ever since I incorporated my serums. I use an anti-aging one and a vitamin C. I’m not saying you need to go out and buy both, but get one or the other!
Oh but wait, the serum is not enough!? NO! you need to moisturize even if you have oily skin! Your skin is just like your body, you need to hydrate yourself no matter what right? Same thing with your face! Get a moisturizer that is suitable to your skin type and that has SPF. If the moisturizer you use does not contain SPF you can always add it on. During the day I use a tiny bit of the Origins Ginzing moisturizer, but my go to moisturizer is the Plantscription because it’s anti-aging lol.
6. Eye Cream
The skin around our eyes is so sensitive. Notice how thin it is!? Yeah…You need to protect that skin. Use an eye cream, whether moisturizing, anti-aging, or both!! Oh and I don’t mean your regular moisturizer or your facial moisturizer, I mean an eye cream that’s meant to do that, moisturize. I always say, it’s never too early to use an anti-aging eye cream, I wish I had started using one when I was in my 20s (I’m in my 30s in case you’re wondering lol). I use the Origins Plantscription eye cream, wow this cream has done some wonders for me! That area was so dry before, now it’s all gone! My concealer goes on much smoother now lol.
I left mask for last (and this one also falls in the realm of self-care) because I know not everyone likes doing this. BUT I’m telling you, masking does such goodness to your skin, whether you have dry, oily, combination or normal skin; oh and can I add how relaxing this little task is!? I literally feel like I’m in a spa when I mask. I love masks of all types (you may remember this post on masks!). Add a mask to your routine, you don’t need to do it daily, maybe 2-3 times a week, your skin will be so supple and radiant, you’ll be hooked!
Ok my loves! This is what I have for this three part “Essentials” mini series. I wanted to end with skin care because of the obvious reason, we’re “caring” about ourselves and giving our faces the love it needs! I hope you guys like it and find it helpful.
